Chasing Shadows: A Novel

Litlinks Review

This is my first time sharing a review on Litlinks. I received this book from a friend of the author, who is also associated with this platform. The highlight for me was the author’s use of an old Scarborough, Ontario, hangout—a spot I frequented often growing up. That place no longer exists, and I don’t live in Scarborough anymore either, but reading about it stirred a deep wave of nostalgia. What made it even more poignant was the image on the back cover—it’s of that very spot, making the experience feel all the more personal. I’m not revealing the name of the place here—let’s see how many of you can pick up the book and recognize the location from the image on the back cover.

This book offers a refreshing and unique take on the typical Nazi treasure hunt narrative.

Chasing Shadows is a gripping and emotionally layered novel by Jasveer Singh Dangi that delves into the complexities of human nature, secrets, and redemption. Known for his nuanced storytelling, Dangi crafts a narrative that is equal parts psychological thriller and poignant drama.

As the plot unfolds, readers are drawn into a tense and suspenseful journey that examines the burden of guilt, the strength of forgiveness, and the quest for truth. Dangi’s characters are well-developed, each with their own inner struggles, which makes their journeys compelling and relatable.

Dangi’s writing style is crisp, with vivid imagery and a strong sense of pacing. He doesn’t shy away from exploring dark themes, but he balances them with moments of introspection and hope. The narrative maintains suspense throughout, with twists that feel earned and satisfying rather than forced.

What stands out most in Chasing Shadows is its emotional depth. This isn’t just a thriller—it’s a story about confronting one’s inner demons, the fragility of trust, and the resilience of the human spirit.

A thought-provoking and suspenseful read, Chasing Shadows is another commendable entry in Jasveer Singh Dangi’s growing repertoire. Recommended for fans of character-driven thrillers with emotional weight.
