Litlinks Review
Double One Zero (110) – Out of the shadows, narrated by Andrew Bergen, is my second audio book based upon author Jasveer Singh Dangi’s work. I got curious about this one after I went through the audio version of ‘The Incredible My Sweets’ by Jasveer. Although the story is mostly based in India, Andrew has done a fantastic job with varied accents and pronunciations. I was glad that he didn’t had to dub for the female dialogues as they have used a female narrator for that. I am a big fan of spy thrillers and this one sent goosebumps all over my body with its fast paced action sequences. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
“Double One Zero: Out of the Shadows” by Jasveer Singh Dangi is a suspenseful thriller that delves into themes of deception and the quest for identity. The narrative follows a protagonist on a journey to uncover his true self, leading him through a labyrinth of conspiracy, mystery, and adventure.
One of the first things I noticed was the lucid yet engaging style of storytelling, making it accessible to a wide range of listeners/readers. The author’s narration style is compelling, with well-developed characters and a plot that unfolds seamlessly. Chapters such as “The Revelation” and “The Final Deal” are particularly gripping, keeping readers hooked with timely twists and the introduction of unexpected elements.
The inclusion of foreign dialects adds a realistic dimension to the characters, and detailed descriptions of various locales enhance the immersive experience. While the story incorporates flashbacks that may momentarily challenge the reader’s tracking of events, the author manages these transitions effectively, ensuring the narrative remains coherent. However, a further round of editing could address minor technical lapses to enhance the reading experience.
Overall, “Double One Zero: Out of the Shadows” is a compelling and unputdownable suspense thriller that successfully combines elements of patriotism, combat, and light-hearted moments to balance the tension. The cover image aptly reflects the plot, demonstrating thoughtful design. This novel is highly recommended for listeners/readers seeking an engaging and thrilling read.
